Adobe has integrated Photoshop, Adobe Express and Acrobat into ChatGPT, allowing users to carry out common image, design and PDF tasks through conversational prompts inside the chatbot. Adobe did not disclose financial terms of its arrangement with OpenAI. Reuters reported the tools are free to use in ChatGPT, and that users must register with Adobe to access them.

What Users Can Do in Chat

Adobe said people can trigger the apps by typing the app name followed by an instruction, such as requesting a background blur in Photoshop. The Verge reported the embedded versions are a simplified subset of the full desktop apps, covering tasks such as targeted image edits and adjustments in Photoshop, design creation in Express, and PDF editing and conversion in Acrobat, with projects able to move into the full Adobe apps for deeper work.

Access, Rollout and Platform Coverage

Reuters reported the Adobe tools are available on ChatGPT desktop, web and iOS, with Adobe Express already active on Android and Photoshop and Acrobat expected to follow on Android. Adobe’s help documentation for Acrobat describes enabling the app via ChatGPT Settings → Apps and Connectors, then signing in with an Adobe ID.

How This Fits OpenAI’s App Direction

OpenAI introduced “apps in ChatGPT” in October 2025, describing an approach where third party services can be discovered or called by name, with interactive interfaces inside the chat. Reuters framed Adobe’s move as part of a broader push by software companies to place familiar tools inside conversational AI systems to reduce switching between applications.

Comparison withother AI image and document editing paths

Other major platforms have been adding similar capabilities. Google said the Gemini app lets users upload images and edit them using AI, including changing backgrounds and adding elements, and later described upgrades aimed at improving consistency when editing photos of people and pets. Microsoft’s documentation describes image editing inside the Microsoft 365 Copilot app, including cropping and background changes. Separately, Figma announced new AI image editing tools for removing, isolating and expanding image areas within its design products.

What This Means for Users Choosing Between Tools

OpenAI’s help documentation notes ChatGPT also has a built in image editor that lets users select an area and describe an edit, though it warns results may not always stay confined to the selected region. Adobe’s integration positions its branded tools as another route for edits inside ChatGPT, with Reuters and The Verge emphasising that access requires Adobe sign in and that the ChatGPT embedded experience is not the full desktop feature set.
